Brett Rogers - NASCAR

Brett joined us in 2001 as a disciple of Bob's. That season Brett borrowed Bob's wife's sled and soon developed a love for the sport.

You see, Brett is a huge NASCAR fan but unfortunately, he does not race. Brett quickly discovered snowmobiling gives him an opportunity to drive fast and tinker with mechanical performance, testing his abilties to make a machine run faster and hopefully win races. As you can see, snowmobiling fills a void for Brett.

Because of Bob's support and encouragement, Brett has developed a "love" and "loyalty" to Bob. Brett, loves what Bob loves, so Polaris it is. But the question was, what Polaris should he get? He didn't want to buy new just yet, but he knew of the dangers of buying used from someone he didn't know. You could be buying someone else's problems or even worse--the previous owner might have jumpped the sled several times and the sled may have broken suspension parts... The point is, you just never know.

One other thing Brett considered before purchasing is: when in doubt, go with a fast sled.

That year--2001--the F-BoB gang developed a ranking system based off of several races. Jimmy, with his mighty 800 was #1. Bobby, mainly due to Jeff's fear of beating him, was designated #2. And Jeff, a surprise candidate, was a solid #3 beating Mike's Yamaha and John's Mach. The entire group was impressed and surprised at the sheer speed of Jeff's sled since he just bought it that year. It was shocking, but it was a really fast sled...AND Jeff didn't do a damn thing to it--completely stock.

Well, at the end of that season, Jeff bought the #1 sled from Jimmy so the surprisingly-fast Polaris went up for sale. Brett promptly bought it, cleaned it up and stored it for the summer.

Do you know how long Wisconsin summers are? It seems like a lifetime--especially when you have a brand-new toy you haven't used yet. A guy could get a mighty-fine itch in a situation like this. A guy's mind could run away fantasizing about aftermarket accessories and making the fast even faster! If it started as the #3 sled, surely a NASCAR nut can make it #2 or...swallow...#1!?!

Why leave well enough alone when reeds and clutches are so readily available? And with the proper NASCAR spirit, they can be installed so easily--right???

Brett, with Bob's assistance, couldn't stand it any longer and installed reeds and clutches in late September. And the excitement built... It built during October. It built during November. It built during December until the first trip between Christmas and New Years.

Goodbye #3. Hello to "new guy kicking the veteran's butts..." ...OR, you might think...

In this particular case, Brett successfully made a 100mph sled max-out at about 40mph with no solution in site until several hours at the Polaris dealer undoing Brett's NASCAR modifications. Several hundred dollars later, Brett's got it back up to the #4 or 5 spot and working hard to get it back to it's #3 position by getting it back to stock.

We'll see...
